At this point, most “alternative” milks have hit the mainstream. You probably think you’ve tried them all, experimenting with nuts, grains and a bunch of other stuff you never thought could be milked. Turns out, you’re wrong. There’s a new one, and it’s totally bananas.

No, seriously, it’s made of bananas. Plus, it's great for you. Here’s the deal.

You make it yourself. Like, really easily. Here's how to whip some up at home

It's good for you. We all know bananas have a ton of potassium. But they’re also big on vitamin B6 and pectin, which keeps you feeling full longer and aids in digestion. Banana milk is especially good before a workout since the fruit regulates blood sugar and packs a huge punch of energy. And of course, it's 100 percent dairy-free.

It’s good for the environment. Other pseudo-milks go through a ton of processing before they hit the supermarket. This one is done right at home, with raw, unprocessed ingredients.

It’s versatile. Banana milk can be used completely interchangeably with dairy milk. Try it in cereal, oatmeal, smoothies or drink it straight as a sweet treat.
