As self-proclaimed style-chameleons, we've gotten good at embracing change. Hence our immediate love for Overbey & Dunn, the West Village's newest (and most mercurial) home-goods store.
Taking a cue from pop-up stores and restaurants across the city, this narrow and sun-drenched shop on Christopher Street changes its entire look and inventory every 10 to 12 weeks--which works well for us, considering that's about our time line for personal reinvention.
The inaugural theme is "Spring Fling," and the store is set up like a vintage-y studio on April's first warm day. But while it might look like someone's apartment, everything you see is actually for sale: the retro prints ($95 to $2,800) and flower etchings ($1,700) that grace the lilac walls, the glass, horse-head bookends ($115), lusterware martini set ($145) and even the gorgeous, speckled Murano chandelier ($2,800), suspended from the ceiling.
Hands-down, our favorite piece is the pea-green, mid-century sofa ($1,450) which seems straight out of a 1960s corner office.
The current look is up until May 28, after which guest-curator Scott Sanders takes over with a flirty summer "Beach Cottage" theme.
