Stunning textiles for beautiful homes
Shanan Campanaro didn't intend to make home goods. Rather, the Brooklyn-based artist got the notion when revamping her apartment back in 2008. By digitally manipulating and printing her own paintings, Campanaro created wallpapers so gorgeous, she simply had to make more. And so Eskayel was born.
This three-year-old company, which also sells pillows, ceramics and fabrics, has received rave design-world reviews for its inky, kaleidoscopic patterns, often informed by Campanaro's extensive travels.
Her most recent collection, Era, consists of 12 new prints that invoke Italy's neutral, muted tones (think Amalfi's stone cliffs and Campania's lush olive groves) in Rorschach-like shapes. (We dare you not to find meaning in the haunting Aquarius fabric.) The entire collection is smart enough to picture in your living room, but our favorite patterns are the watery Dynasty and the gold, regal Cleopatra.
Each Eskayel print is available as a wallpaper ($15 a square foot), fabric ($155 a yard) or throw pillow ($135). Plus, for an extra $100, Campanaro will design a custom color especially for you.
