If you've ever wished you could enjoy a day of downhill skiing without the company of pesky show-offs or ski-bum teenagers, we've got good news: Liftopia.com's new full-mountain rentals.
Since 2006, Liftopia has offered deep discounts--up to 80 percent off walk-up prices--on advance lift tickets and gear packages at ski resorts across North America (ranging from Killington in Vermont to Steamboat in Colorado).
The new full-mountain-rental option, however, is so cool, because it's so exclusive--and the only way we know to actually keep the slopes to yourself, or about 300 of your closest friends, more realistically.
Starting at $3,000, you can rent a mountain for one weekday of personal use, giving you private access to trails, rental shops and on-site dining. Initial offerings include Plattekill Mountain in New York, Camden Snow Bowl in Maine and Whaleback Mountain in New Hampshire, but the company promises more partnerships with western resorts soon.
While we love the idea of playing king of the hill for a lavish party or a company retreat, we also like that some of the resorts will let you rent out portions of their slopes for smaller, less pricey gatherings.
