Bikes and Hikes L.A. mixes sightseeing and fitness
What’s more fun than learning new facts about our fair city? How about doing it while getting an endorphin buzz?
That’s the concept behind Bikes and Hikes L.A., a sightseeing outfit that leads individuals and small groups on fitness-oriented biking excursions. You turn up at the company’s Santa Monica Boulevard headquarters or new outpost inside Madame Tussauds, get a hybrid bike and then follow your guide.
We like the legendary homes tour ($68 a person) for out-of-towners, since it’s only ten miles and includes a Beverly Hills mansion tour. There’s an even shorter Hollywood tour ($55) that includes Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and Paramount Pictures. Hiking newbies can opt for a 3.5-mile Hollywood Hills hike ($52).
We’re most excited about the five-hour L.A. in a Day tour ($162): 32 miles round trip from WeHo to Venice, including a walking tour of Greystone Mansion. (Bonus: The ride burns 2,000 calories.) And every weekend, there are 12-mile “eco-spin” classes that last two hours and burn 1,000 calories.
Thanks to Bikes and Hikes L.A., we’ll never waste another sunny afternoon in a sweaty studio.
