CAMERA READY
Customized video makeup lessons
Makeup artists are full of useful tips, but how often have we been made up by a pro before an event, only to forget how they made us look so good?
No more: Now we've got it all on video.
At the new Make Up For Ever flagship, professionals give makeup lessons in front of a camera-equipped mirror set in a private booth. Sessions are videotaped, then downloaded onto a lipstick-shaped flash drive for the client. Sessions are reasonably priced: Lessons focusing on one area (a smoky eye, say, or the perfect long-lasting lip) are free with a $40 purchase, while complete looks (with a custom complexion, three-step eyeliner and lip, for example) require a $120 purchase.
Staff also draw annotated makeup diagrams on an interactive SMART Board, then email them to clients.
Pros love Make Up For Ever for its HD line, which includes 7 primers ($32) and 26 foundation shades ($40), as well as other formulations invisible not only to the naked eye but also on famously unflattering high-definition video. Now we can finally say with confidence: We're ready for our close-up!
