Work-ready apparel at Steven Alan
The first time you walked by the new Steven Alan store in Bucktown, you probably hustled on past, thinking, Guys’ stuff, bor-ing. Yep, us too.
Luckily for all our closets, we were wrong.
The New York-based shop--this is its first Chicago outpost--is actually our new favorite for restocking our work wardrobe. Steven Alan’s streamlined aesthetic strikes a balance that perfectly captures how we want to look at work: like we’re smart, fashion-loving professionals who aren’t trying too hard.
Here’s what we want now.
The Big Interview The silk Thalia color-blocked dress ($358) is striking and sophisticated--it’ll set you apart from the pack. The no-nonsense black-and-white combo echoes the look of a suit but comes off less buttoned-up.
The Conference Call Who says you can’t wear leggings to work? Start your week on a comfortable note with this polished silk version ($320) by Alasdair. Pair them with dressed-up heels and a soft sweater.
The Power Lunch This Steven Alan black-and-ivory gingham suit (skirt $245, jacket $465) looks tailored and pulled together, but the leather piping, pockets and print ensure it’s a long way from boring.
