Hara to Believe
A new workout stretches things
We may have discovered the ultimate workout: It comes to you, doesn’t involve equipment, is only as hard as you want it to be and helps your body feel healthier and move better.
Too easy, right? Well, kinda, but it works.
Chicago woman and “stretch therapist” Estelle Harford of Stellar Strength is one of only 25 Global Master Ki-Hara practitioners in the world. The discipline helps eliminate pain, reactivates and releases muscles, builds new muscle and improves what she calls “true flexibility.”
Basically, she’ll strength-train and stretch you at the same time.
Harford puts your body through movements based on your goals and underlying problems. You’ll get to know her well: She uses only her own body to make it happen, gently pushing and pulling your limbs in various directions while adjusting and instructing you along the way. The sessions cost $150 each.
And the best part of the “workout”? A kind of relaxing, modified massage that Harford does against tight parts of your body, encouraging them to be long and lean.
She can also help with acute and chronic pain, including hip, neck, shoulder, knee and elbow aches; sciatica, arthritis and plantar fasciitis. We’re standing taller already.
