A place for great blowouts in the Gold Coast
Some things are best left to the professionals, one being perfect hair for a special event or a treat-yourself day.
Blowtique, a new blowout bar in the Gold Coast, offers a low-stress experience that reminds us of stopping into our favorite neighborhood mani-pedi spot on a quiet afternoon.
The place is located in a pretty vintage building at the corner of Huron and State streets, making it an easy stop when you’re shopping on the Mag Mile or lunching at fashion doyenne Ikram’s chic in-store café a few doors down.
Blowtique’s interior is bright and feminine, with big windows overlooking the sidewalk, crystal chandeliers and pale-gold upholstered chairs.
We received one of the best massage shampoos ever before we were led to the chair of our stylist, Rhona Kane. Fiona McEntee, Blowtique’s owner, and manager Kane both hail from Ireland; when they visited Chicago for a wedding a few years ago, they found a dearth of affordable options for getting that sleek, professionally dried look.
We're glad McEntee and Kane took matters into their own blow-dryer-wielding hands--now glossy, full-bodied hair can be yours for $35 a visit.
You'll leave with a new bounce in your step--and your locks.
