TO MARKET
Give Mom a dose of Chicago
Since it launched last year under the curatorship of the four ever-stylish Dosettes, the monthly Dose Market--a showcase of Chicago fashion, food and home design vendors at the River East Art Center--has become our favorite alternative to Sunday brunch.
That's especially true for the May edition of Dose (Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; admission $10), which happens to fall on Mother's Day and is an excellent excuse to skip the annual seafood-and-omelet-station spread and take Mom on an interactive shopping spree instead.
In honor of the holiday, Dose is holding a free raffle with mothers as the only potential winners. Up for grabs are two gift baskets bursting with hand-dyed scarves from Lydia Brockman, jewelry from M&B Vintage, sweets from Salted Caramel and more.
If you skipped breakfast, fear not: Dark Matter coffee and Do-Rite doughnuts are among the vendors doling out deliciousness. (For kids and the young at heart, there's grilled cheese from Cheese Dream.)
The best way to remember the day is to squeeze into the 312 Photobooth for a snap with Mom--or send her home with flowers from Forget Me Knodt.
