Head to the West Loop’s new pizza joint
It’s a “Must. Have. Pizza.” kind of day, but you have to make it quick.
Head to Parlor Pizza Bar, the just-opened West Loop restaurant that’s baking up Neapolitan-style pies in special Italian wood-fired ovens. (They turn out perfect, crispy-yet-chewy crusts in four minutes flat.)
We recently stopped by for lunch and ordered one of the menu’s “pizza packs,” all-inclusive meals that come with a whole pie, choice of salad (or appetizer) and a soft drink for between $10 and $14.
Our small kale Cobb salad seemed like an acceptably healthy way to indulge in ranch dressing, and our Abe Froman’s Fave pizza, topped with house sausage, roasted red peppers and spinach, came out fast and piping hot.
The crust was just thick enough that we could pick up the slices (this is Chicago, after all), and the cheese-to-sauce ratio was balanced just right.
For dessert--well, ever tried a s’mores pizza? It’s a sticky, marshmallowy, chocolatly mess. An amazing mess.
