How to Make a DIY Sugar Body Scrub

It's affordable and oh so easy

The end of the year comes with a lot of extra costs. (Think holiday party outfits, flights to visit family and endless dinners and drinks with friends.)

Instead of blowing your entire gifting budget on expensive skin-care products, try this easy homemade sugar scrub instead.

Step 1: Gather your ingredients—granulated sugar, coconut oil and the essential oil of your choosing. (We're partial to grapefruit.)

Step 2: Melt the coconut oil and combine with the sugar in a large mixing bowl. The ratio should be two parts sugar for every one part oil.

Step 3: Add in about ten drops of essential oil. (More will make the scent stronger, and less will tone it down.)

Step 4: Mix again, then scoop into an adorable mini mason jar. Tie it up with a bow and you’re ready to go.

Bonus: Now you have extra coconut oil, which is extremely versatile and can be used as a makeup remover or frizz tamer among other things.
